I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED, though I did end up having to do a little bit of research and mull it over a while.

Almost all nations are a part of some clusterfuck or another these days: Europe in particular has developed into "Europa," which is a grouping of more or less all the countries that use the Euro these days plus a few. There is still some strong diversity of culture going around, but each part is less contained to its original country. Though each given area may have some specialties they like to show off, they also make a point of trying to show off everything Europa has to offer.

If you want a character to be from any given part of Europa you can feel free to define some of the local culture. Most likely, each individual component country is effectively like a province in the conglomerate.

Important to note is that in this AU edition of each, neither WW1 or WW2 happened, which means that a lot of the relations between "provinces" aren't quite the same. There have been other conflicts, from time to time, but nothing on the scale that would be considered a world war. It's almost as if a higher power has been mediating international conflict over the last several centuries to achieve a desired result.

Also, worthy of note, what was Japan and the United Kingdom are a part of Americana as opposed to anything closer to their respective landmasses. They are still more culturally unique than Canada, the US, and Mexico have become, but they are still important parts of the group.

(Pride Records and Virgo Entertainment both have influential headquarters there.)
